Welcome Future UCSB Students!
|
Thank You for Joining the Tropicana Del Norte Community! |
We’re excited that you have chosen to live at Tropicana Del Norte starting in Fall 2016! All of us here at Trop look forward to you making your transition from home to college life at UCSB fun and easy! “Trop Talk” is Tropicana’s bi-monthly newsletter sent to residents and guarantors who’ve completed signing up to join our community!
Over the summer Trop Talk will include information you’ll want to know before move-in. During the school year it will include recaps of the programs and events at Trop, along with tons of photos, and info about upcoming events. Be sure to like us on Facebook for more tips and updates! |
Get a Head Start… with TEMPO!

Tropicana Early Move-In Program Orientation |
Looking to get a head start on your year here at Tropicana Del Norte and at UCSB? Move in early and join Tropicana’s Early Move-in Program Orientation!
TEMPO starts Tuesday the week before UCSB move in. TEMPO is an orientation program that covers the top 10 important things concerning incoming freshmen, including healthy eating, dealing with relationships, touring the campus, getting books, finding classes, field trips around the city and getting to know 50+ other Trop students. The fee for TEMPO is $500. TEMPO Applications are available through our Move-In Info page and are due by Tuesday, September 5th. |
Once you’ve completed your contract, it’s time to find the perfect roommate! Roommate matching is a bit like online dating, except to find the perfect roommate match!
To begin, create your Profile on your MyTropAccount. Be sure to include what your interests are, as well as your academic goals and hobbies. From there you can browse through other potential roommate matches and start talking to them. Once you are communicating with potential roommates, be sure to chat about your personal preferences for sleep, noise levels, neatness (or messiness!) and even the amount of personal time and space you need, to see if you would be a good match. For more hints, check out our Roommate Communication Tips and Tropicana’s blog. |
Parking Available for Purchase |
While your skateboard and bike will get you around the college town of Isla Vista, and you live adjacent to main campus, you may still wish to bring your car to shop in nearby Goleta or visit the beautiful downtown Santa Barbara area.
At Tropicana Del Norte there is parking available for purchase:
- Outside parking, on the UCSB campus side of Tropicana Del Norte, is available for $850 for the academic year.
- Underground Garage parking, directly beneath Tropicana Del Norte, is available for $1,250 for the academic year.
Download the Parking Application and Parking Regulations, fill out and return with payment to secure a parking space for 2017-18. Parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. |
Use Your Talents to Chronicle Your Experiences at UCSB!

Do you love blogging? Do you enjoy telling others about your experiences? If you answered “YES!” to either of these questions, we would love to hear from you! Trop is looking for a resident who will write a blog about their Tropicana or UCSB or experiences. Payment is $20 per published blog. If you are interested, please write a sample blog and send it to Brendan Langley at blangley@tropicanastudentliving.com.
