About Tropicana Student Living
Tropicana Student Living offers residence hall and apartment living to students attending the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB), Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) and international language schools.
Our communities provide college students with flexible rooming options, meal plans and professional staff to ensure a successful transition from home to independent college living. In addition to providing an environment that supports academic success, Tropicana sponsors social, educational, and recreational events, creating an enriching overall college living experience for our residents.
Our management team, who lives on site, maintains close ties with UCSB and SBCC campus officials to ensure that our student residence life philosophies and policies are consistent with on-campus missions and policies.

Tropicana Del Norte is a private residence hall for Santa Barbara City College students students located directly adjacent to the UCSB campus. With 51 furnished suites, onsite dining, light housekeeping, and on-site Resident Assistants, Tropicana Del Norte offers a four-year college residence hall experience for SBCC students, who would otherwise have to commute or live in apartments. Tropicana Del Norte provides an environment that supports academic success and facilitates a strong sense of community. We encourage our SBCC residents to participate in UCSB’s cross-enrollment program. The convenience (door-to-door transportation to SBCC via MTD) and amenities (such as heated pool, recreation room, 24-hour study lounge, and covered/uncovered parking) make Tropicana Del Norte extremely popular with SBCC students.
Tropicana Gardens is a privately managed residence hall that caters to UCSB students. Close to lecture halls and athletic venues, Tropicana Gardens is home to a diverse community of UCSB students. With 109 furnished suites, onsite dining, light housekeeping, and on-site Resident Assistants, Tropicana Gardens offers a four-year college residence hall experience like traditional residence halls through UCSB. Its convenient location and resort-style amenities (such as heated pool, fitness room, recreation room, and on-site café), makes it a favorite amongst incoming UCSB freshmen, transfer students, international students and athletes. Tropicana is proud to be the Official Student Housing Sponsor of UCSB Athletics.
The Tropicana Villas apartments, situated three blocks from UCSB and five blocks from the beach, caters specifically to continuing students and provides independent apartment living while offering the convenience of by-the-bed leasing and Joint and Several leases, along with discounted rates at the Trop cafés. The Villas has 48 fully furnished units, a heated pool, recreation room, laundry room and parking.
